Life is spinning, indeed

I knew when I started looking for items for my new place that I wanted bright colors. You can blame this on the fact that it's summer, my apartment is sunny, and colors that induce depression are definitely not the motif I want to follow.

But what I'm surprised to find is that everything that I've been buying for my living room has spirals! Maybe it started with an influence from the spirals on the walls:

or from the pompozon cushion that I've owned for a couple of years:

which may or may not have been aided by this awesome fabric that my mother gave me when I saw her last weekend:

But I couldn't help myself and had to buy this carpet:

It's just what I was quasi-looking for. I wanted a green color (the living room will likely contain a lot of cooler colors) of carpet and my mother just bought me a paisley, champagne colored slip cover for the loveseat, so I'm really hoping I didn't just do pattern overload! Luckily, the slipcover pattern (to the best of my knowledge) is subtle and monotone so I don't think it'll be too bad.

But there were only 4 left and overstock.com had me hook, line, and sinker when I saw that. And it helped that the price was good and shipping only cost $3! I'm thinking of turning the fabric into curtains for the living room. Just simple, hanging curtains that will hopefully work to pull the room together.

So what does all of this spiraling mean? My original thought is "life spiraling out of control" but I think I'm going to do a little more research into the origins of this design...if only to make myself feel sane.

This is life spiraling into my control

  1. Ok...so I'm a little confused. Is all of this going in your bedroom or elsewhere in your apartment and the living room is going to have different stuff in it?

You're going to make me jealous of all the decorating you'll get to do haha I can't wait until I move out on my own and make everything my own. Seriously, every time I go to Target anymore I find myself looking at all the home stuff and daydreaming.

Do you get to paint the walls? I was with my mom today when she was looking at paint samples and found myself daydreaming about painting my own walls someday haha

I like the "this is life spiraling into my control" saying.

  2. So the plan is for all of this to be in my living room. I'm not really sure what my plans are for the bedroom. I'm pretty sure it's going to be so full with my giant bed and 3 dressers (ones a wardrobe, but still!) that it's going to be hard to try and tie everything together.

I know what you mean, you should just start buying things here and there because where I am right now, if I didn't restrain myself I could easily spend myself into a hole!

  3. a pompozon cushion? whaaat? whatever it is, it's freaking cute. and the fabric your mom bought is amazing.

also, the pictures you have here, of the cushion and the fabric... they look like they are already IN your new apartment. have you been able to move stuff in already?
